I almost never even noticed this cafe but my eagle eyed non coffee drinking wife spotted it and pointed it out to me. The Strictly Coffee Company is located on a tiny side street in the heart of downtown New Zealand just about a block away from the octagon.
I almost didnt bother to go in but I am so glad I did. Walking through the door I was quickly greated by a very friendly down to earth barrista who was more then happy to chat with me about their coffee. They roast in house and have 7 different blends available for purchase. I was in the middle of asking why they only ran one grinder when I was handed my double shot latte .. I took a sip and was blown away. Their house blend is a multi origin blend with origins from PNG, Kenyan and Columbian. I found the roast on the darker side which I personally prefer. It was with out a doubt one of the best multi origin blends I have ever tasted. It was smooth with just the right amount of bite to it with a slight nutty edge. The coffee was seriously amazing.
I was invited back the next morning to observe thier roasting process but umfortunatly didnt end up making it. But I will be buying these beans online in the very near future.
If you find yourself treking through the South Island of New Zealand make sure you stop in at this cafe roastery.
Currently we don't have another cafe near The Strictly Coffee Company. Why don't you suggest one?
