Fantastic. Hazel and the team do a great job. The coffee is always good and always world class. I have been visiting Hazel throughout her career at various locations and always come away happy. If only a few more operators could show the enthusiasm and go the extra mile in the pursuit of great coffee.

Clearly these guys know a lot about coffee! What a great representation of specialty coffee! Wish there was a set up like this in Brisbane!

I frequent Coffee Alchemy every week and I am impressed every time. Excellent range of coffee available, beans and wet coffee. Staff are always friendly and approachable. Focussed on coffee and nail it every time. Always new coffees coming in to try as well. Definitely a place to check out and worth the effort of making it to Marrickville for the coffee alone.

After reading all the glowing reviews I thought I'd pop in and try their coffee. Walking in it smelt heavenly with the aroma of roasting beans and I couldn't wait ! My flat white arrived , looked great , good creme , milk perfectly frothed and latte art too .... but it tasted awful. Had a bitter smokey flavour and very bitter aftertaste . Didn't finish my coffee. Maybe they just had an off day ?

Great place this. Obvious knowledge of and commitment to coffee. La Marzocco machine, great barista and a choice of beans provides a variety of possibilities to satisfy everyone. Extremely friendly and professional. The room is small so this is a get in and out type place that is all about coffee. A must for all Sydney coffee lovers.

Coffe simply doesn't get better. Literally. The shots are extracted perfectly, the milk (if you take it) is just right, the coffee is roasted on site in all sorts of interesting ways, the coffees are traced to the farm gate. There are coffee places in the world as good, though not many. There are none better.

Absolutely brilliant. Flat white was impeccible, strong yet silky and smooth. The ristretto was full of flavour, thick and bitey yet no bitterness. Try it for sure.

Unassuming... that's how I will always describe Coffee Alchemy to people. Reason for this is from the outside, you wouldn't expect the experience you will receive on the inside. What a pearl within a rough shell this is though!!!

Hazel, Dan and Claire are absolute masters. From roasting to brewing, this is without a doubt in my mind one of the best coffees in Australia! From roast to cup, there is a science that takes place here and the test case is your tongue... your very lucky tongue.

They always have the staple espresso's and often pour overs, but you will find on any given day there with be some style of coffee that has been roasted a few days earlier that the team have decided is good enough to serve you, and that means it is smoking hot!

Get down there, try a COE or whatever they have in store for you... you will not be disappointed in the time spent there!

1 of the best coffee places in Sydney. Hazel's coffee knowledge will put some of the so call "coffee professionals" to shame. And Daniel is one of the best Barista out there, super Calm and Friendly, and makes a consistently high standard coffee every time. If you are a hardcore coffee drinker or want to become one, make this place your MUST GO stop.

Coffee Alchemy is truly epic.

The flat white was perfect and smooth, and then the piccolo we had to finish off our visit was even more perfect (if that's possible). I'm normally a one sugar man... But neither coffee needed a sugar - it just would've taken away from the amazing flavour and texture of this brilliant coffee.

Service was quick and very friendly. And yes, even though you feel like you're sitting in someone's kitchen, they make you feel very much at home.

Keen to try their filter coffees at some stage as well.

Brilliance, and near perfection. Easily my favourite coffee, for taste, in Sydney.

I'm going to keep this short and to the point. I love Coffee Alchemy. I love Hazel, Clare and Dan. They are a passionate team, generous and always willing to share information - be it talking about the coffee they are serving, hinting at what bags they have received and will be coming up soon or providing advice on home roasting and brewing.

Small premises, but focussed on one thing - great coffee. One of the very best espresso bars in Australia.

Run, don't walk. You'll thank yourself.

I love Coffee Alchemy.

Owners Clare & Hazel are two of the most passionate coffee professionals I have ever met. Clare can explain more about a coffee by a mere facial expression and gesture than most could spend a lifetime writing. However, equal to this is Hazel's ability to write so romantically and poetically about the bean we love (and that which she obviously does too). Her writings are what drove me to make my way over to that obscure part of Sydney on my recent brief weekend up there and can be found on the Coffee Alchemy blog.

First up, we had 3 pourover coffees of Clare's choosing - a Mountain Top Estate, a Kenyan and an El Salvadorian. Wow. 3 so different coffees... it was hard to decide which I liked better. A flat white was prepared with their espresso blend (with origins making it up being held secret) and topped with a silky rosetta. I rounded it off with a perfect Brazilian double ristretto.

I found heaven. It's smaller than I expected, low on the glitz'n'glam, and it's stuck in a non-descript building in Marrickville. But it's heaven alright, and God-shots abound.

As you walk into this place, you're stuck by.... the counter. Well, not quite, but the place IS small. No chairs and tables, just bench seats around the walls which provide seating for 8 or 9 people. This is not a cafe to bring your newspaper and/or laptop. You kind of feel like you're sitting in someone's open-plan kitchen/living room and, depending on where you sit, you can easily watch the shots being pulled and the filter coffees being prepared.

The staff, and their regular customers, clearly know their coffee very well. I overheard one discussion, between the barista and a customer, about the "champagne-like qualities" of a particular "symphonic" single-origin they were serving last week. Hardcore. But fear not, they are not wankers/snobs. They treat us "Joe Average" drinkers with maximum courtesy, respect and openess, too.

Ordered my two standard drinks. I stuck with the house blend, but they have a good range of single origins and blends on offer, all available for both bean sales and to have brewed on-site. Nice. I have NOT had a better double macchiato in YEARS and the flat white was text-book PERFECTION, right down to the freepoured latte art. I cannot rave-on highly enough about the espresso here. It is THAT good.

The ONLY thing stopping me from scoring this place a perfect ten is the lack of tables, which makes the drink-in experience feel a little rushed/awkward.

You must try Coffee Alchemy.
