If you're looking for a place to sit and enjoy art whilst enjoying the theatre of syphon coffee making then head to Grindsmith, where art and coffee come together in Manchester's Northern Quarter.

The smell of freshly ground to order coffee, brewed in a syphon and delivered to your table, whilst you gaze at the art or watch the next filter coffee or syphon being prepared, is a welcome reprieve from the normal sights and sounds of a bustling cafe.

Here the baristas engage with you, sharing their passion for brewed coffee and talking about the art from local artists that changes frequently.

The coffee selection is also set to change periodically, with various roasters being supported. When I visited 2 types of coffee were on offer, and a new delivery was expected the next day, so I will be going back next week for another visit.

The tea service is also special, with a range of Suki Tea's available, and presented in a unique way. I won't spoil the surprise and would encourage you to sample it for yourself.

Grindsmith is not your usual cafe and at present is an espresso-free-zone.

Brewed Coffee doesn't often get the recognition it deserves, but at Grindsmith it is central to their ethos.
The clean flavours complement the clean lines of the minimalist design, with as few features as possible to distract you from the main event, the art.
